Whanzine is the ongoing personal project of London-based photographer Marius W Hansen. A series of self-published zines, each devoted to a single subject, extending to more than one hundred editions, made in parallel to his commercial work for clients including Chanel, Dior, Gucci and Tiffany. Across the series, ordinary objects are turned into studies of shape, colour and space. The work is available here as individual zines and posters, alongside views from exhibitions and installations of the project.
A collaborative installation with London-based artist Andrew Stellitano, shown at 92 Cromer Street, London, in March 2026. Centred on Marius W Hansen's photographs of vases, the project treats each image as both a record and a work in its own right, inviting close attention to form, surface and presence.
London Installation
An installation of Whanzine 101–112, shown in Fitzrovia during Frieze London, October 2025, bringing together twelve zines, each devoted to a single everyday subject, from vases and pears to lobster and tyres.
A dispersed presentation of Whanzine 101–112, with images installed in everyday locations across the surrounding neighbourhood: Fish at a fishmonger, Toast in a café, Ear Plugs in a hardware store. Each site returns the work to the origin of its subject, placing the images within the flow of everyday life.
Paris Launch
The launch of Whanzine 101–112, held in the Marais, Paris, September 2025. The installation presented selected works from each of the twelve zines.
An installation of the first 100 Whanzines, shown at his London studio, 2022. The work marked the first hundred editions of the series, each devoted to a single everyday subject.
